in a good way or a bad way, as there doesn’t appear to be time to do any strategic thinking. However, we will email you a summary of the Budget on the following day. At the very least we will find out the nuts and bolts of what our personal allowances, tax and national insurance rates will be from April 2019 onwards.
Normally at this time of year at YGWM we are in the throes of renewing our Professional Indemnity Insurance. However, last year it took up so much time with some insurers withdrawing from that market and others demanding so much more information about how we run our business, when we and our broker identified a suitable insurer, we asked for a term longer than a year which means that next April will be the next time we do this. We are so pleased this is the case because, as you may know, my 94 year old mum has been in and out of hospital since 4th July, and is still currently in a recovery hub whilst we look for a suitable care home. What an eye opener this is. Having done the long term care training and exams, the real life is far different, time consuming, exhausting and draining. At the moment, if we’re not in the office when you ring, do leave a message. We’re most likely on some errand or meeting to do with mum, and will get back to you within 24 hours. Please don’t let this information deter you from getting in touch, it is always a pleasure to hear from you.
A further point that will affect you at some point is Passport Renewal. In the past you have been able to apply for a new UK passport between 6 and 9 months in advance. Then the new adult passport has come through with the period as 10 years from the expiry date. However, very quietly this summer, the Passport Office has changed the process and the 10 years starts from the date you submit your application. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/09/passport-applicants-hit-out-after-being-given-shorter-than-expec/
